Tempting Tassels in under ten minutes!

March 13, 2015 Emma Leith
Colourful tassels on a pom pom curtain

Possibly the easiest thing you will ever make!  These tassels look amazing on just about anything and if you follow my craft tutorials you will see I use them a lot. They transformed the crochet bunting and were the perfect  finishing touch on the Pom Pom Curtain!

All you will need are 2 pieces of card, some colourful wool and a pair of scissors.

Cut a piece of wool about 30cm long and sandwich it between the two pieces of card.

Take your wool and begin to wrap it around the card.

Do this about 30 - 40 times (depending upon how thick you want your tassel to be).  Cut your wool and lay the card flat.

How to make a tassel

Pick up the ends of the wool you sandwiched between the card and tie a knot.  Tie a second knot to keep it secure.

How to make a tassel

Take the card and cut through the wool at the opposite end to the knot.

How to make a tassel

Once you have cut through the wool remove the cardboard and lay flat.

How to make a tassel

Take another piece of wool in a contrasting colour and cut it to approximately 30 cm and place it under the tassel 1/3 of the way down from the knot end

How to make a tassel

Tie the (blue) wool and pull it tight to create that tassel bulge.

How to make a tassel

Wrap the (blue) wool around the pink tassel several more times to really highlight that bulge.  Tie it securely and cut the ends.

And there you have it.....simple!
